As someone from Connecticut, I just want to say thank you to Alex for your charity choice and to Stephen for donating. It means a lot.
A. I'm very happy to hear about other friend groups naturally ending parties with therapy moments. It always happens with my groups when it stretches past midnight, and it's always sooo refreshing.
Just so you know you have shown the sandwich cookies thing on the vlog before, it was on 12/15/21. Mal had made them because y'all had some icing that was gonna go bad and used a Spice cake mix (Stephen tried them on that same vlog and liked them).

I really like the idea of decompression/venting after a long day together. I realize I do this constantly online, but rarely do I have the space to do this in-person (especially after 2020). Really makes you feel even closer to your friends that way. ❤
We don't have cable either. we watched it on a local channel which is free if you have an over the air antenna.
Yep, that's always an option, too. It's not expensive; $20 or so for a decent one, and voilà, you have access to all your local channels. The only downside is sometimes you have to deal with lousy reception.

It's funny how there's been two back-to-back vlogs with US-specific things that, despite the prevalence of US film and TV everywhere, people outside the US barely ever hear about (girl scout cookies and the Superbowl)

I've never been a big Superbowl fan, as I'm not American. But it's always fun to see the competition between Stephen and Alex.
After the first Super Bowl, or the AFL-NFL World Championship as it was known then, which was covered by both CBS and NBC (they owned the rights to air NFL and AFL games respectively back then), the Big Game was covered by a single network. Here's a brief history on which network covered which Super Bowl, as well as future events.
CBS--all even-numbered Super Bowls from II until XVIII, XXI, XXIV, XXVI, XXXV, XXXVIII, XLI, XLIV, XLVII, 50, LIII, LV, LVIII, LXII, LXVI
NBC--all odd-numbered Super Bowls from III until XVII, XX, XXIII, XXVIII, XVIII, XXX, XXXII, XLIII, XLVI, XLIX, LII, LVI, LX, LXIV, LXVIII
ABC--XIX, XXII, XXV, XXIX, XXXIV, XXXVII, XL, LXI, LXV
FOX--XXXI, XXXIII, XXXVI, XXXIX, XLII, XLV, XLVIII, LI, LIV, LVII, LIX, LXIII, LXVII
The two conferences also alternate which is the designated home team. In odd-numbered Super Bowls, it's the NFC/NFL, and in even-numbered Super Bowls, it's the AFC.

Stephen, I have my OTA antenna set up with MoCA adapters (thanks for teaching me about MOCA). OTA won't work over MoCA if you have other TV signals (cable or sat), but it works just fine with internet. Or to avoid needing additional equipment (diplexer and amplified splitter) and possibly degrading the signal by splitting it so much, just the antenna directly into the TV. You shouldn't have much trouble with an indoor antenna picking up the major local stations (the only one I have trouble with that I care about is ION, which is in Rocky Mount - and I am further west than you are).
The fact the background track cuts off at 13:20 just a few seconds before the end drives me nuts.

As for accessing the game, why not just buy an over-the-air antenna? Last time I checked, broadcast television is still a thing. High-definition indoor antennas can be found at most major retailers, though a good one will set you back a couple hundred dollars.

As an Eagles fan, watching this kinda hurt my soul... I'm still sore about the fact we got the ball back with only 8 seconds left and unable to do anything with it. Although if we were in the Chiefs' shoes, we'd do the same thing and I'd be fine with it.

Oh my god Mario Kart 64... on a N64 🥺😭 I still have my N64 (with, among other games, Mario Kart) but I need to figure out a way to plug it into my Modern Day TV™.
I am pretty sure there are adapters for this. It might cause a little lag but it is possible. I am surprised my TV from 2017 still has the RYW and Scart sockets (A UK thing). I am not complaining, it is very helpful.

I know you had one a couple of houses ago but indoor antennas are fairly cheap and since you're in a different location, maybe it will work better for you.

For next year so you don't have to worry about trying to subcribe to a service you could just grab yourself an antenna and watch the local broadcast of the superbowl there is no blackout markets for the superbowl so it would be on your local FOX or CBS or NBC channel

I've been the first person in my family to normalize "therapy talking," and my mom who has never talked about anything emotional is really proud of me. She's happy that I've grown to know that I'm not alone in my feelings, that every one has them, which means why not talk freely about them?
I hope they sell a shirt with “team stephen loses” and Stephen drawn as an eagle, and a shirt that says “team Alex wins” with a drawing of him as a raccoon (chiefs mascot), and donate the money to each respective charity.

This has almost nothing to do with football, but have you ever considered linking the charities that you two decide on every year in the description of the Super Bowl vlogs? I understand if it would be too much of a hassle but I think it'd be nice for anyone who would also want to donate ^^;

@@Swishyhead I mean yes, ofc they can lol. I also don't think if they _did_ decide to take this suggestion that they would do it for all of the previous vlogs, just the ones from here on out. It might help to increase exposure for the charities, though. Ultimately it's up to them, and if they decide against it for one reason or another it's easy to look up the charities for anyone so inclined!
Nah, it's not Super Bowl Sunday... IT'S PUPPY BOWL SUNDAY!!! I love watching the Puppy Bowl every year ❣ Such a good event to help sweet puppies and kitties find forever homes.
God I love group therapy with friends. Been doing that for a while now with trusted friends (currently 22) missed that in covid. It's very different in person
This year was the first Super Bowl I missed since 2005 or so. Here in the UK we have to stay up until beyond 3am, which has been fine for me in the past but my sleep pattern just isn't conducive to it at the moment.
Yeah this is one of the reason I don't bother watching Superbowl, cause I don't care for it and two I'm not staying up past 3am for sports game lol.
I wasn't really rooting for either team, but was leaning a bit towards the Eagles. I decided that after I saw the Eagles' Kelce on the sidelines and absolutely fell in love with that beard. It's so beautiful! 😍🤭
I was rooting for the Eagles, but honestly the best part of the whole game to me was when Travis Kelce (the Chiefs one) hit the stanky leg after getting a touchdown and like 3 other Chiefs came over and tried to fan the stank away.

To be fair, the Super Bowl is on network TV, which is free so long as you have an antenna. So you don't even need cable.

That talk about expending your energy into a sport like once a year is something I have but for the World Series which is the baseball championship and that's mainly cause my hometown of Houston Astros have gotten to it and won! It's the only time I actively watch every game of that series cause I GOTTA SUPPORT H-TOWN!!! (also we cheated for the first two times recently they got to the game BUT after being caught they won WITHOUT cheating but I still root for them)

I really appreciate that the wager always goes to a charity..but you two are too cute. both seem completely hopeless with football in general and it's just like "whoever wins, wins..woo" lol it's totally more about spending time with friends and getting money to a charity.
